As a brand that’s been raising the nation’s spirits for over two centuries, it’s fair to say Schweppes has a past as colourful as our present.

We owe our name (and eternal effervescence) to our founding father – Jacob Schweppe – a Swiss jeweller, craftsman and restless innovator.

Unsatisfied with simply being one of the best watchmakers in Geneva, in 1783, he mastered the art of bottling bubbles and became the first person in history to create carbonated soft drinks on a mass scale. Soon after, he set sail for England to quench his thirst for something a little more exciting. Causing quite the stir among the high society, his sparkling creation was a big hit. More than 225 years later, our effervescence – and innovative spirit – is just as iconic as it was then.

As we continue to celebrate our past, we have a lot to be thankful for. With a pioneering founder whose passion for innovation still drives us, we’re dedicated to producing a quality product that still raises smiles today.
